Voices from Dashers of Color Application!
Last week, we announced the formation of a new council called Voices from Dashers of Color (or the VDC), which will provide crucial perspectives on important issues specifically facing Dashers and Couriers of color.
We realize that Couriers who didn’t apply for the traditional Dasher Community Council might be interested in participating in the VDC – and Couriers who did might prefer to work on these unique challenges instead.
So, in the spirit of inclusion, we have created a (very brief!) application for the VDC. All active Couriers of color with at least 100 deliveries are invited to apply. Applications are due by Monday, June 15 at 11:59pm Pacific.

We have one source for Dashers and Couriers to help you navigate DoorDash and Caviar’s COVID-19-related programs as well as resources regarding relief that may be available under federal stimulus legislation.

CA Supplemental Covid-19 Payment for Food Sector Workers
As you know, eligible Dashers and Couriers can access Financial Assistance, Telehealth, and more during the COVID-19 Pandemic. The California Labor Commissioner has made the availability of Covid-19 Payments mandatory for all companies, both those with W2 Employees and those who work with 1099 Independent Contractors like Dashers and Couriers.
Note that if you submitted a claim for DoorDash Covid-19 health-related financial assistance and were not approved, you can still submit a claim for California Supplemental Covid-19 Payment.

How do I submit a claim?
- Go to the Support web form and enter your full name and the email associated with your Dasher/Courier account.
- Choose Payments in the Category dropdown menu.
- Choose Covid-19 Financial Assistance as a subcategory.
- In the Description field, please specify how you meet the requirements above.
Please note that you are applying for California Supplemental Covid-19 Payment so that our team can assist you better.
- Example: I’m applying for California supplemental Covid-19 Payment leave. I haven’t been able to work, as I have been advised by a doctor to self-quarantine due to Covid-19 symptoms.
What happens after I submit a claim?
Please note that we may request supporting documentation to complete your request.
If you qualify, we’ll process a one-time payment based on any earnings from the last 6 months. You will qualify for 80 hours of assistance if on average, you worked at least 40 hours per week in the 2 weeks preceding the date you submitted a claim. If you are not qualified for the 80 hours, it will be 14x times the average number of hours you worked each day on the Caviar platform in the 6 months preceding the date the claim was submitted. For sample calculations, please visit the State of California’s FAQ page and go to # 12.*
Upon submitting a claim for California Supplemental Covid-19 Payment, your Dasher/Courier account will be suspended. We will provide you with instructions for ending your account suspension. When ending your account suspension, our team will ask you for additional documentation that shows you have been medically cleared.
Now let’s take a quick look at some of your personal stats for the week. You can check your courier app for updates on Milestones and Peak Pay each day.
*Each hour of leave shall be compensated at a rate equal to the highest of: i. Your regular rate of pay for the last pay period; ii. The State minimum wage; or iii. The local minimum wage. BUT in no event shall DoorDash/Caviar be required to pay more than $511 per day and $5,110 in the aggregate to a single individual.
