Learn more about DoorDash

As we announced in a previous email, DoorDash and Caviar are transitioning into a single platform. The Caviar Courier app will no longer be accessible and all Caviar delivery opportunities will be offered through the Dasher app at the end of August.

The deadline to opt in to have a Dasher account created for you is Sunday, 8/2/2020. Please click this link to learn more about how to continue receiving delivery opportunities through the Dasher app. Note that if you already have a Dasher account, you will automatically receive Caviar and DoorDash delivery opportunities through the Dasher app.

Over the course of the two weeks between 8/10/2020 and 8/24/2020, Caviar delivery opportunities will start to transition to being offered through the Dasher app. By 8/24/2020, all orders placed by customers on the Caviar website and app will be offered through the Dasher app.

You may be wondering what working with DoorDash is like. To help ease your transition, we’d like to highlight some of the main differences between the Caviar platform and the Dasher platform.

Pay Model

The DoorDash pay model is similar to the Caviar pay model you are used to. Total earnings for each completed delivery are made up of base pay + promotions (such as peak pay) + customer tip. You will see the base pay of a delivery when it is offered and that base pay will not change. Customers may leave a tip when they check out or after the delivery is completed. Dashers keep 100% of customer tips. Caviar’s Weekly Pay Guarantee will not continue. You can read more about the DoorDash pay model here.

Self Scheduling

Just like Caviar, the DoorDash platform offers the opportunity to work when you want and where you want. If you open the Dasher app and select “Dash Now,” you can instantly begin dashing. If that option is not available at a particular time or location, you can schedule a dash in advance for a specific starting point and time. Dashers who are online during a self scheduled shift often find that they get more delivery opportunities. You can read more about scheduling at this link.

The Red Card

Occasionally, Dashers use the Red Card debit card to pay for DoorDash orders when prompted by the app. The Dasher app may say “Pay with Red Card” or “Place Order”. If you opt in to have a Dasher account created based on your Caviar Courier account, we will send you a Red Card after you complete your first dash. Dasher Ratings

Dashers using the DoorDash platform receive ratings based on how they perform on the platform. Ratings are calculated on a “rolling basis”, which means that, as you dash, ratings from past deliveries are replaced by ratings from more recent deliveries. Ratings help you become eligible for special programs and incentives but also determine your ability to remain active on the DoorDash platform. Dasher Support

When you are in the process of working on a delivery, you will have access to Live Support through the Dasher App for urgent issues. Similar to how Live Support works with Caviar, Live Support with DoorDash should be considered a last resort since response times may vary. Fast Pay

If you used Cash App to receive your payouts instantly, you might be interested in enrolling in Fast Pay with DoorDash. Fast Pay gives Dashers the ability to cash out their earnings daily for a fee of $1.99. This means Dashers can receive their earnings on demand through DoorDash, rather than waiting for their weekly direct deposit or using a third party service. Read more about Fast Pay here.

DoorDash Large Deliveries

Dashers can qualify to be offered larger deliveries, which usually come with higher earnings. This is similar to Caviar’s Courier+ program and is only open to Dashers as opportunities become available in certain markets. DoorDash will offer all Couriers who opt in to have a Dasher account created the opportunity to qualify for these larger deliveries starting on 10/1/2020.

To qualify for this opportunity on 10/1/2020, you will need to to meet the following criteria from 9/1/2020 - 9/30/2020:

  • 100 or more completed deliveries
  • 95% Completion Rate
  • 4.7 Customer Rating
  • 98% on-time customer delivery
  • Have 1 thermal catering bag (at least 22” W x 14” L x 13” D) (any bag will do, no need for it be a DoorDash or Caviar bag)
