Voices from Dashers of Color (VDC)
Last week, we announced the formation of a new council called Voices from Dashers of Color (or VDC). The VDC will provide crucial perspectives on important issues specifically facing Dashers and Couriers of color.
As we recently received thousands of applications to the Dasher Community Council, we are currently identifying potential members for this newly formed council from this pool of incredible applicants, focusing on ensuring diversity of racial and geographical backgrounds. We will reach you if you are invited to join this council at the same time that we announce selections for the DCC.

Safety on the platform
We are currently monitoring curfews, community response, and restaurant operations across the United States. We will keep you updated on areawide shutdowns when we are aware of them. We will also communicate with you if we learn that Dashers and Couriers are exempt from curfews in your area. Continue to check your email and notification center in your courier app for these updates.
Where permitted, Caviar will remain open should you choose to go online. Anyone designated as an essential worker should be able to complete their work and feel safe and secure while doing so, and we are prepared to provide you with our support. As always, we hope you will prioritize your safety and security while on the roads.
Announcing the Black-Owned Restaurant Collection
Many of us are looking for ways to support our local Black communities during this time when we are reminded, yet again, by how Black and people of color lives are devalued. One of the ways we can help is by supporting Black-owned businesses.
We’re committed to using our platform to amplify Black entrepreneurs and restaurateurs. That’s why Caviar is launching our new Black-owned restaurant collection. Available now in Brooklyn, Los Angeles, and the SF East Bay, this collection will expand to additional cities over the coming days.
The Black-owned restaurant collection helps customers who want to place an order in solidarity with the community—and eat really great food while they do. We should have launched this sooner, but doing something now is better than nothing at all.
Each merchant in these collections has approved their inclusion, and new restaurants will be added on a rolling basis.
Racism is not okay, hatred is not okay, and justice should not be relative. There is more work to be done, and this restaurant collection is one part of a larger program including donations to advocacy and non-profit groups, new Voices from Dashers of Color (or VDC) councils, and more.
